    Green Peter Kokanee Blues

As many of you know I have been fishing green peter for many years. Guiding it for kokanee for 5 and limiting almost every trip. Last year the kokanee started normal size but those disappeared in May and 8" was the average size. I have taken 3 trips this year and it is terrible. in 3 trips I have located 20 schools total. Those schools were tiny. The fish in them even smaller then last year. The state does not know whats going on but as skinny as the fish are it is a food issue.

I'm not going to be guiding it this year. I've called and cancelled all those trips. If anyone wants good sized kokanee in the valley area go to Detroit Res. east of Salem. The kokanee are 13" right now. There are trout and Chinook as well. Check your regs though because the limits are very different from Green Peters.

I would guess disease may have something to do with it as well. Everything goes in cycles and it's no fun when the cycle is down. Now they are talking about an El Niño again in the North Pacific and we all know what that means...
